Wiltshire’s NNRs include some of the largest and most diverse calcareous grassland nature reserves in the UK. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day management of Pewsey Downs, Prescombe Down and Wylye Downs NNRs. Working as part of the Wiltshire NNR team they will also have involvement in the management of Langley Wood NNR and Parsonage Down NNR.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a small but dedicated and innovative team, building resilient landscapes for nature around these iconic NNRs. The role is both practical and managerial. You will lead volunteers in completing practical nature conservation tasks and monitoring key habitats and species. You will also project manage contractors, work alongside farmers who are delivering NNR management on our behalf and partners who share the objective of connecting nature across the landscape.
The successful applicant will have an understanding of nature reserve management, the necessary practical skills and certificated training as appropriate (e.g. chainsaw licences). Also important is a track record of working with volunteers, an ability to work with a diverse range of people and experience of managing your own workloads. An understanding of the relevant legal obligations will also be required e.g. Health & Safety, Cross Compliance and Open Access legislation.
