We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team. As the Area Warden for the Canterbury and Weald area, you will be responsible for the day to day management of a range of important and varied conservation sites, with designations such as SSSI, LWS, LNR; Canterbury City Council sites including Larkey Valley Wood, Wraik Hill and Foxes Cross; woodland owned by South East Water and a number of Kent Wildlife Trust owned sites in the Weald including Marden Meadows and Parsonage Wood.
Duties will include planning and delivering practical habitat management activities, leading and managing conservation volunteers, engaging and supervising contractors, leading conservation grazing schemes whilst always ensuring the highest health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Partnership working will be a key feature of this role. Kent Wildlife Trust manage a number of sites for Canterbury City Council, as well as working with South East Water managing some of their land adjacent to the Trust’s large West Blean Reserve.
The ideal candidate will have experience of similar nature reserves/habitats, alongside the habitat management approaches involved. The candidate will have demonstrable ability to lead, manage and motivate volunteer teams.
You will be a team player with a desire to share experience with colleagues and a willingness to learn from others. Effective working with others, whether it be teams from across Kent Wildlife Trust, partners or stakeholders, will be key to success within this role, so an attitude of cooperation is essential.
This post is well suited to either an experienced conservation manager looking to expand their knowledge and experience or to a candidate with less experience looking to build their skillset.
